The Formative Research will use a panel series design to conduct separate focus groups for Mexican-heritage men, women and children.
Areas of focus:
- Benefits, importance, and strategies for healthy eating, physical activity, and screen-time
- Intra-family communications (parents, siblings, others)
- Attitudes, perceptions, barriers, and facilitators to physical activity and healthy eating
- Sources and styles of information (mode of delivery, materials/objects, and content preferences
- Individual and family concepts of healthy eating and activity
- Skills needed for parent-child and child-parent communication about healthy eating and physical activity
- Discordance between parents behaviors and expectations for their child(ren)
